Grief, Trauma and Addiction often go hand in hand. It's hard to ask for help with addictive behaviors and patterns. Jessica has been in recovery for 17 years and has experienced the pain and destruction that addiction can bring to our families and to our lives. She is trained in co-occurring disorders and addiction from some of the top organizations in the US and is trained from Hazelden Betty Ford in the FIT Co-occurring Disorders Program as well as specialties from NAADAC in Women in Recovery, Advanced in Technology in the Addiction Profession, Recovery to Practice and Wellness in Recovery. She has also studied trauma and addiction, specifical with a neurobiology somatic focus. She utilizes a Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention model with expressive arts, and research based practices as well as holistic practices. She believes that true recovery involves not only developing long term sobriety but creating a supported lifestyle and addressing core wounds and issues that often cause addictive behavior in the first place. Our services are open to all, but we do specialize in women's and those identifying as women's care.
Sober Supports are essential to long term sobriety whether they are spiritual, support groups or sober and supportive family and friends. She works with Women for Sobriety, Wellbriety/Medicine Wheel-White Bison, Recovery Dharma, as well as SMARTRecovery and has created SoberArts, an expressive arts specific program for treatment and recovery support for addictions. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher specializing in Yoga for Recovery, Grief Yoga, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Chair Yoga, Yin and Aqua Yoga.
"I believe that addiction is a combination of biological, social, emotional and spiritual components that stem from trauma, grief, anxiety and mood struggles and spiritual disconnection. For some people they find that connection in AA. Others find it through the Chakras in yoga, through energy work, sound healing, earthing, singing and creating....where we find Divine connectedness between ourselves and Source.
Our clinician is trained in specific methods for complicated grief from Columbia University in New York, Hospice Center of America, UC San Marcos Center for Palliative Care, UW Madison and various other organizations as a certified grief counseling specialist. This, along with her additional training in grief counseling adds to her experience and life experience healing from the loss of individuals that we love or are connected to, as well as other types of loss that impact us such as divorce, breakups, changes in life from medical issues (COVID particularly) or career loss, etc.
The fire inside you may be but a small ember, but it's still alight. Learn to breathe life into the soul fire and raise from the ash.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, panic and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Healing from trauma is a holistic endeavor that involves the mind, body and spirit. We call it the Trinity Process. We can support you with interfaith, metaphysical and spiritual development practices as well, that are uncommon in the counseling environment. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing, developing coping skills and exploring core issues. Our practitioner, is a clinical trauma specialist and certified grief counseling who has been trained by some of the world's most respected trauma specialists. She utilizes a variety of methods that are mind/body and spirit based. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to relive your trauma story to learn to stabilize your life.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. We work to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life developing a more positive outlook through compassionate, nurturing dialogue with yourself. Understanding your thinking and the relationship between the mind and body is emphasized. We work as a team with you to develop coping strategies and skills as well as look collaboratively at natural lifestyle supports and supplements that support mood, researched by the top mind body medicine specialists in the U.S. and various indigenous cultures.
Sleep is one of the most important things we can do for our physical and mental body. Sleep directly impacts our mental health and mood as well as is a necessary component to memory in brain function. We teach you how the mind and body work together regarding sleep, explore potential sleep issues and using CBT-I, affirming thought, gentle movement, HeartMath, visualization and energy work along with foods and supplements, endocannabinoid support, earseeds, Yoga Nidra, acupressure, sound healing and affirming thought to improve your sleep.
Chronic pain involves the over stimulation of the nervous system and the body interpretating sensations at a heightened level. This occurs frequently in individuals who have survived trauma, chronic trauma, neglect, abuse, struggle with moderate to severe anxiety and panic and depression. We tailor a program specifically for you that supports you naturally in a positive, affirming environment with exercises that retrain the nervous system and how the body is able to perceive pain signals. We provide culinary, supplement and herbal treatments as well, that often have better results than traditional medication without being harmful or addictive*.
*Always consult your doctor regarding medication, supplement and physical activity decisions for your health.

What are Platica's and Limpia's in Curanderismo?
In Curanderismo, the folk healing and ceremonial practices of the indigenous people of the Americas, we begin with “plática,” the confidential heart to heart conversation held between the curandera and their client. Plática is done before every private session, ceremony or ritual. It is the time you spend sharing what is “on your heart” and why you have brought yourself here. In curanderismo and many other traditions we are often reminded; what we think and how we feel influences our reality. This lesson is as old as time. We are taught to align our thoughts and feelings when we do manifestation work. We envision ourselves obtaining, achieving or experiencing something we desire and align our emotions so that we feel “as if” our desire has already occurred. This alignment is powerful, and many can speak to its effectiveness. Modern science supports this. It has measurably proven to us that our thoughts are electric, and our emotions are magnetic. When the two align we have an electro-magnetic effect. Science calls the alignment or harmonization of our thoughts and emotions “heart coherence”. Heart Mind Coherence is also practiced through HeartMath Heartrate Variability Breathing and visualization practices which Jessica is a certified provider.
Limpia's are spiritual energy cleansing ceremonies and rituals that are practices to release attachments, cleanse the subtle body energy and the biofield.
Supplement recommendations should not be used in place of your physicians advice and are recommendations based on research and the National Center for Complimentary and Integrated Health as well as traditional folk medicine practices. All are suggestions only. Endocannabinoid support is one suggestion we use for anxiety, panic and sleep. Qualitative data has shown CBD, NOT THC, to have profound effects on the mind and nervous system to regulate these emotions, better than Benzodiazepines which are highly addictive. We embrace the recommendation of cannabis products in the management of stress, anxiety, panic, sleep and chronic pain that often cause addiction itself.
We partner with Lazarus Naturals in Oregon for high quality, 3rd party tested, research based quality CBD, CBG, and CBN products that support mental health. The benefits of CBD on anxiety, panic, nervous system regulation, trauma, catastrophic thinking, rumination and insomnia have been seen through success with our clients. Jessica is a certified endocannabinoid specialist and has witnessed the plant power of CBD/CBG/CBN help regulate the nervous system quickly so people can work on developing additional coping skills. For some, this has successfully replaced Benzodiazapines without the addictive qualities and side effects.
**supplements are no FDA approved and should not replace the advise of your medical professional.
